New York Giants release linebacker Bobby Okereke

The New York Giants are releasing veteran linebacker Bobby Okereke to save $9 million against the salary cap.

Okereke, who turns 30 on July 29, led the team with 78 tackles and two interceptions last season. The move is part of the Giants' planned defensive overhaul under new head coach John Harbaugh and defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson.
