Bettman visits Calgary for World Cup venue

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman visits Calgary on Monday to assess Scotia Place as a potential venue for the 2028 World Cup of Hockey.

Accompanied by deputy commissioner Bill Daly, Bettman will tour the construction site and meet with ownership to discuss the $1.2 billion arena, scheduled to open in fall 2027. Calgary is among the North American finalists to host the tournament, with venue announcements expected in two weeks.

The bid promises a festival-style atmosphere with concerts, fan events, and community celebrations, positioning Scotia Place to host international hockey supremacy in February 2028.
