Ghana National Team to Train in Rhode Island for World Cup

The Ghana men’s national soccer team will call Smithfield home this summer as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with Bryant University serving as their official training base. The Black Stars are expected to stay in Providence while utilizing the university's athletic facilities.

This selection means the team will face England in nearby Foxboro, Massachusetts, on June 23. Mayor Brett Smiley extended an invitation to fans to stay in Rhode Island during the tournament. The sessions will be closed to the public, but officials emphasized community programming.
