Coolidge Athletics on Probation After Basketball Game Incident

Coolidge High School's entire athletics department has been placed on 365-day probation by the Arizona Interscholastic Association following taunting allegations during a boys basketball playoff game.

Coolidge faces a playoff ban in all sports after allegations of taunting during their Class 3A quarterfinal victory over Chinle. The AIA investigated after receiving video footage of the incident, which prompted Arizona state legislator Myron Tsosie to comment on the 'unfortunate events.'

The school is appealing the decision that would disqualify them from postseason play for one year, including forfeiting their state semifinal game against Snowflake. Coolidge, currently 23-7 and No. 62 ranked in Arizona's Massey Rankings, would see all athletic teams become ineligible during the probation period.
