Cincinnati Files Lawsuit Over $1M Buyout vs. Texas Tech QB

The University of Cincinnati has filed a lawsuit against quarterback Brendan Sorsby, seeking $1 million for allegedly breaching his revenue-sharing agreement by transferring to Texas Tech.

Sorsby, a former Bearcats starter, reportedly signed a $5 million NIL deal with the Red Raiders. Cincinnati claims the revenue share was for the 2026 season and included a clause for liquidated damages if he transferred early.

Sorsby's representative called the lawsuit "misguided" and argued the penalty is unlawful under Ohio law. Meanwhile, Cincinnati stated it honors contractual commitments and expects the same from student-athletes.
