Cubs 8-6 Guardians: Cabrera Debut, Swanson Homers

Edward Cabrera made a flawless debut for the Cubs, striking out six Guardians batters, while Dansby Swanson homered and drove in three as Chicago won 8-6.

Cabrera threw 20 strikes in 31 pitches, retiring all six Guardians hitters and striking out three. Dansby Swanson delivered a two‑run homer and an RBI single, adding three runs to the Cubs’ 8‑6 victory.

The bullpen held the Guardians scoreless, with Rolison, Palencia, Snider and Webb combining for two hits and four strikeouts. Hodge struggled, giving up five runs in two innings, but the Cubs rallied in the eighth with a bases‑clearing double by Leonel Espinoza and a save attempt by Gavin Hollowell.
