BVB’s Gregor Kobel praises Bayern Munich’s ‘quality’ in 3-2 loss to league leaders
Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel did all he could to stop Bayern Munich during his squad’s 3-2 loss to the Bundesliga league leaders.
Kobel gave up an incredible effort by Harry Kane for a goal and was victimized by a world class volley from Joshua Kimmich for another of Bayern Munich’s goals. In a penalty kick against Kane, Kobel even guessed the right way and got a piece of the attempt before having to watch it deflect off of him into the net.
Afterward, Kobel had to tip his cap to Bayern Munich
“I think you have to say that Bayern showed extreme quality in front of goal today and converted their chances brilliantly. We put up a fantastic fight. We gave it our all, tried to get the fans behind us, to be physical and make it extremely difficult for them. For a long time, we succeeded in doing that. But in the end, they’re just very, very good in front of goal. That’s incredibly frustrating and hurts terribly. In terms of performance, it was a reaction to Bergamo. Nevertheless, you end up on the pitch as the loser. That wasn’t our goal,” Kobel said (as captured by FCBayern.com).

Patriots reportedly see Eagles’ asking price for A.J. Brown as ‘unserious’
The New England Patriots have made no secret about their desire to upgrade the supporting cast around quarterback Drake Maye this offseason, and are willing to explore different avenues to do so. Among those is swinging a trade, with Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown a popular name tied to the club’s efforts.
But while the Patriots are indeed in the market for Brown, the Eagles’ asking price has prevented anything from happening so far. In fact, according to a report by the Boston Herald’s Andrew Callahan and Doug Kyed, the team is considering Philadelphia’s demands as “unserious.”
The Patriots have explored trade talks involving Eagles star wide receiver A.J. Brown, but feel the current asking price is unserious, according to one source.
Several league sources believe Brown could nonetheless be dealt, and the return could be a step above what the Seahawks received when they traded D.K. Metcalf and a sixth-round pick to Pittsburgh last year for a second-rounder at 52nd overall and a seventh-round pick.
The Patriots having shown interest in Brown is no surprise.
A former second-round draft pick who started his career under Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel in Tennessee, Brown has been a productive wideout for both the Titans and Eagles. He has crossed 1,000 receiving yards in six of his seven seasons in the NFL so far, and would give New England and its young quarterback the true No. 1 wide receiver it has been lacking for multiple years now.
Ultimately, however, the Eagles will have to make the call. And they have incentive to hold onto Brown until at least June 2: trading him before that date would create $43.5 million in dead cap space for the team. The contract becomes more tradable from their perspective after that deadline, but New England might not be willing to play that waiting game.
Their current wide receiver situation, after all, is in flux. While the Patriots currently have eight wide receivers under contract, the most productive of them in 2025, Stefon Diggs, is facing an uncertain future due to his contract and ongoing legal issues.
Porter's 16 second-half points lead Clemson to an 80-76 victory over No. 24 Louisville
CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Jestin Porter scored all 16 of his points in the second half as Clemson snapped a four-game losing streak with an 80-76 victory over No. 24 Louisville on Saturday.
The Tigers, once comfortably in the NCAA Tournament field with 10 wins in their first 11 Atlantic Coast Conference games, had raised questions the past two weeks with their late-season slide. But Clemson (21-8, 11-5 ACC) held off the Cardinals (20-9, 9-7) with defense and Porter's timely baskets.
Up 55-49, Porter drove through the right side of Louisville's defense for a basket off the glass. Moments later, Nick Davidson stole the ball from Adrian Wooley, fed a perfect pass to a wide-open Porter who hit a 3-pointer for a double-digit lead.
The Tigers led by 15 with 1:08 to play when Louisville used a 17-6 run for the final score.
Porter, a senior transfer from Middle Tennessee State, had not scored in double figures in 10 games and, with zero points and two fouls in the first 20 minutes on Saturday, did not appear on pace to break that streak. But Porter made two early shots in the second half before his critical stretch put away the Cardinals.
Clemson's defense locked down on Louisville leading scorer Mikel Brown Jr., who finished with five points on 2-of-10 shooting. Wooley had 17 points to lead the Cardinals, who have lost three of their past four.
Louisville broke out early for an 11-7 lead on 3-pointers by Ryan Conwell and J’Vonne Hadley and a three-point play by Brown. But the Tigers followed with a 12-4 surge to take the lead and went to the half up 38-35.

Chargers GM Hortiz Eyes Aggressive Free‑Agency Moves
Chargers GM Joe Hortiz is entering his third season with the organization, and the free‑agency period is critical. With over $87 million in cap space, the team has the resources to assemble a serious contender after a 3‑0 start in 2025 and two first‑round playoff exits.
Hortiz, who honed his approach over 26 years in the Ravens front office, may stick to his philosophy or adapt to shake up the roster. Whether he will spend aggressively to secure a deep postseason run remains to be seen.
Sixers' Nick Nurse was disappointed Johni Broome suffered knee injury
Philadelphia 76ers coach Nick Nurse this week expressed his disappointment that rookie forward Johni Broome suffered a likely season-ending knee injury.
Broome sustained a lateral meniscus tear in his right knee on Feb. 21 while playing with the Delaware Blue Coats in the G League. He finished with 27 points, seven rebounds, two steals and two blocked shots in 23 minutes, 41 seconds during a home loss to the Maine Celtics.
The 35th overall pick is expected to undergo surgery soon to address the injury, which could sideline him for the remainder of the season. Nurse thought Broome had been playing and developing well with the Blue Coats before the injury.
"I think part of developing players sometimes is that some of these guys have to spend a full year in the G, and that is part of the development for some guys," Nurse said, via PHLY Sixers. "I think he has made some nice progress. I'm disappointed that this happened to him. I'm not sure it is going to end his season, but it is going to be pretty close, so that is disappointing because I thought he was playing pretty good down there and continued to improve."
Broome, signed to a two-way contract, has played sparingly with the Sixers, totaling 55 minutes across 11 appearances for Nurse. He has logged more than 10 minutes in a game once, recording four points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals on Nov. 25.
The 23-year-old is averaging 21.8 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.2 steals while shooting 46.3% from the field in 26 games with the Blue Coats. He erupted for a G League-season-high 50 points, 17 rebounds and six assists on Jan. 16.
Broome and the organization will certainly hope for a quick recovery after suffering a setback on the court. He has had a productive year and will look to return to the court as soon as possible.
