Bayern Munich fans’ pyrotechnics antics have not just been a problem at senior team fixtures. Even the amateur side, FC Bayern II, has seen fans light it up on the regular. Now, FCB II have been docked a point in the Regionalliga standings.
As captured by @iMiaSanMia:
FC Bayern II have been docked a point and fined €26k by the Bavarian Football Association (BFV) for repeatedly setting off pyrotechnics. According to the BFV, FCB II fans violated the rules for the tenth time this season during the match against Wacker Burghausen at the beginning of December by ‘repeatedly setting off pyrotechnic devices, thereby also posing an acute danger to players on the pitch’
The point deduction could still be reversed if the club were to identify one or more perpetrators.
For the tenth time?
Are these ultra-fans aware that they are posing a danger to players and to each other, or merely dismissive of the risk? Hopefully it will not take a tragedy for serious corrective action. The club can lead the way by clamping down hard on this behavior…or keep paying the fines.
