Oilers’ Connor McDavid becomes third player ever with nine 100-point seasons

Connor McDavid just can’t stop making history.

With his assist on Leon Draisaitl’s goal on Thursday against the Los Angeles Kings, the Edmonton Oilers captain became just the third player in NHL history to record nine or more 100-point seasons.

He’s joined by some pretty elite company at the top, as only Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux have also accomplished the feat. McDavid is also now the first player this season to reach the 100-point mark.

In his 11 NHL seasons, McDavid has only finished with fewer than 100 points twice — during his rookie year, when an injury limited him to just 45 games, and in the COVID-19 shortened 2019-2020 season.

His most productive campaign to date came in 2022-23, when he scored 64 goals and finished the regular season with a whopping 153 points.

This year, McDavid reached the century mark in just 60 games, which puts him at 1.67 points-per-game.
