Four teams that could be in the market for a new starting quarterback this offseason are the Pittsburgh Steelers, Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets and Miami Dolphins.

All four teams are likely to have their eyes on San Francisco 49ers signal-caller Mac Jones, who is widely viewed as a trade candidate after he revived his career during the 2025 season in place of an injured Brock Purdy.

Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan has previously said he would be "very surprised" if Jones isn't on the team next season.

However, general manager John Lynch admitted that if San Francisco gets a strong enough offer for Jones, there's a world where the team at least considers trading their backup quarterback, according to ESPN's Nick Wagoner.

"He's really good for us, we value that," Lynch said. "And so somebody would have to come with something fairly strong for us to consider (trading Jones). And then I don't know what we do.

"Obviously, there's always something that would make you (trade Jones), but I think we're a better team with him on it, and we just like having him around."

The fact that Lynch didn't completely slam the door shut on a Jones trade is good news for the Steelers, Vikings, Jets and Dolphins, all of whom could be interested in the former first-round pick.

The Jets and Dolphins look set to move on from their 2025 starters, Justin Fields and Tua Tagovailoa, after they had terrible seasons.

In Pittsburgh, the Aaron Rodgers waiting game continues, and if he doesn't return, the Steelers are likely to explore veteran options via trade and free agency.

It is widely known that the Vikings are looking for veteran competition for J.J. McCarthy after his dismal first season as a starter.

Jones could provide the win-now solution the Steelers and Vikings need, but he's also young enough (27) that he could be a long-term solution for the rebuilding Dolphins and Jets.
