Pride of Detroit readers: How did you become a fan of the Lions?

This week, we’re doing a census of sorts for Detroit Lions fans. Earlier in the week, we asked fans where they’re expressing their Lions fandom from. The results were overwhelming. I haven’t had time to look over all of the answers from you guys, but in just the first few hours of posing the question, we got responses from nearly 30 different states and just about 20 different countries. I’m guessing there’s nearly a dozen more of each since then.

Today, we’re not asking about the where. We’re asking about the why.

Some fans choose their team, and some fans are chosen by their team. Which was it for you? Today, we want to hear your story from you: How you become a fan of the Detroit Lions?

When did you first become a fan? Were you born into it? Was there a specific game or season that pulled you in? What’s the earliest moment you remember as a fan? Was there a specific player that drew you to the Lions? Or maybe they were just your favorite team to play Madden with?
