Kasparov Warned of Russian Death List

Chess legend Garry Kasparov (63) says he's been warned by American and Lithuanian security services that he's on a Russian assassination list.

Kasparov confirmed the warnings in social media, stating it was "not a surprise but still a shock." He and his colleague Ivan Tjutrin, who together founded the Free Russia Forum in 2016, were both notified of their status as targets. The forum, which supports the Ukrainian military and organizes anti-war conferences, was designated by Russia as an "undesirable organization" in 2023 and added to a "terrorist organizations" list in 2025.

Kasparov's announcement follows the US Department of Justice's mid-September indictment of five alleged Russian intelligence agents for plotting attacks and assassinations worldwide, including in the United States. catcross.org
