Israel captain stokes feud with Ireland comments

Israel captain Manor Solomon has inflamed tensions with Ireland by claiming his country is "10 times better" than theirs. His comments came after Irish players and staff showed disapproval during their Nations League match, with players staring at the ground during Israel's anthem and staff facing away from the pitch.

Ireland players also refused to shake hands or exchange pennants with their Israeli opponents in protest against military actions in Gaza. Solomon responded bluntly: "They hate us and we don't like them," as diplomatic fallout continued between the two nations. afnews.co.za
