MAC Appeals Michigan-WMU Result, Asks NCAA To Declare Broncos Winner

The Mid-American Conference appealed the outcome of the Michigan-Western Michigan game Tuesday, asking NCAA and College Football Playoff officials to recognize Western Michigan as the actual winner after a controversial ending.

Michigan won 13-12 on a Hail Mary pass after the replay official put one second back on the clock. The stadium clock and TV clock both showed zeroes after the initial Hail Mary, but the Big Ten claimed time remained on a separate clock in its replay system. catcross.org

MAC Commissioner Jon Steinbrecher stated that replay protocol wasn't properly followed, as officials should have used the program-feed clock rather than the replay system clock. The MAC is requesting the NCAA and CFP recognize Western Michigan as the actual winner.
