Andersen Becomes Myanmar Coach

Norwegian coach Jørn Andersen (63) has been appointed as the new head coach of Myanmar's men's national football team, as confirmed on Thursday.

Jørn Andersen, who previously coached North Korea and Hong Kong national teams, expressed enthusiasm about his new role in Myanmar despite the country's ongoing civil conflict. The Norwegian from Fredrikstad has not coached since leaving Chinese club Yunnan Yukun in 2025.

Myanmar has been in civil war since the military took power in 2021, with over 100,000 people killed according to conflict observatory Acled. The appointment was first reported by VG earlier this week. mchezo.co.za
