Oscar Retires at 34 Due to Cardiac Issues

Former Brazil international Oscar has retired at 34 due to cardiac problems, São Paulo confirmed on Saturday. The attacking midfielder spent five days in hospital after fainting during a routine medical in November.

The 34-year-old, who won two league titles in five years at Chelsea, was diagnosed with vasovagal syncope—a condition caused by a sudden drop in blood pressure, heart rate, and cerebral blood flow. Oscar had a contract with São Paulo that was due to expire in 2027.

The attacking midfielder has not played since the incident in November, with the club confirming his retirement decision on Saturday.
