Padres Minor Leagues Begin: Chihuahuas 2-2

The San Diego Padres' minor league affiliates have opened their seasons, with the El Paso Chihuahuas sitting at 2-2 following a successful rehab start by Matt Waldron.

El Paso defeated the Sacramento Salt River Cats and Tacoma Rainiers to secure a 2-2 record. Rehab pitcher Matt Waldron pitched three innings of shutout ball, averaging 93 mph with a 27% knuckleball usage.

Waldron is out of options, making a major league promotion likely. The San Antonio Missions begin their season Thursday against the Tulsa Drillers with top prospect Miguel Mendez and utility man Wyatt Hoffman.
