MacKinnon Becomes First NHL Player of Season to Hit 50 Goals

Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche scored his 50th goal of the season, becoming the first NHL player to reach the milestone.

MacKinnon’s 50th goal came early in the first period against the Vancouver Canucks, a liner from up top that beat goaltender Kevin Lankinen. He celebrated by sliding on his right knee while pumping his right glove.

The 30‑year‑old now has his second 50‑goal season, joining Joe Sakic and Michel Goulet in Colorado/Quebec history. He is tied with Nikita Kucherov for second in points (121) and is four behind league leader Connor McDavid.
