Spain Fans Face Investigation Over Anti-Muslim Chants

Police in Spain are probing anti-Muslim chants heard during the Spain–Egypt friendly in Barcelona, labeling the behaviour as Islamophobic and xenophobic. The investigation follows repeated chants from supporters that targeted the Egyptian team’s Muslim identity.

Spain’s coach Luis de la Fuente publicly denounced the xenophobic or racist attitudes, and on Wednesday justice minister Félix Bolaños also spoke out against the incident, urging accountability and respect for all fans.
