Jake Canter Wins Olympic Bronze After Near-Death Injury

U.S. snowboarder Jake Canter, who survived a life‑threatening brain injury at 13, captured Olympic bronze in slopestyle at the Beijing Games.

Canter’s journey began when a trampoline accident fractured his skull and left him in a coma. Doctors warned he would never snowboard again, but he defied them, relearning to walk, talk and ride.

At the Beijing Olympics, he landed a 1980‑degree spin on his final run, earning a score that secured third place. The medal is a tribute to his resilience and the support of his family.
