Former NFL cornerback Alphonso Smith Jr., the 37th overall pick in the 2009 draft, has died by suicide at age 40.

Smith, 40, died at a Florida housing community on Wednesday. Before his passing, he posted a troubling message on Facebook that made his struggles clear.

He played for the Broncos and Lions from 2009-2012, appearing in 42 regular-season games with 11 starts. A consensus All-American at Wake Forest in 2008, Smith was inducted into the university's Sports Hall of Fame in 2022. sweetbonanza-app.com
