Indianapolis Colts owner and CEO Carlie Irsay-Gordon revealed that while the team has explored private equity investment options, there are no immediate plans to sell any portion of the franchise. The decision comes despite the Colts being among many NFL teams that have considered selling shares to private equity investors.
Irsay-Gordon, who inherited the team from her father Jim Irsay with her sisters, noted that private equity could be a future funding option if the team decides to renovate Lucas Oil Stadium, which is approaching its 20th anniversary. "We have a beautiful building that has amazing bones, but we're going to need to renovate it," she said, adding that private equity "is just another tool" for diversifying business and funding improvements.
