Steinbach Leads Washington Past Rutgers

Hannes Steinbach scored 24 points and grabbed 16 rebounds as Washington beat Rutgers 79-72 for its first-ever win at the school.

Washington's Hannes Steinbach recorded his 17th double-double of the season, shooting 9-of-13 from the field and 6-of-7 from the free throw line. Wesley Yates III added 19 points and seven assists for the Huskies (14-14, 6-11 Big Ten), who led by as many as 18 points before holding off a late Rutgers rally.

Lino Mark led Rutgers (11-17, 4-13) with 18 points, while Darren Buchanan Jr. added 17. The Huskies shot 50% as a team and held Rutgers to 40%. Washington hosts Wisconsin next, while Rutgers visits Maryland.
