World Cup: Ghana suffers blow with Mohammed Kudus injury

Ghana have been dealt a potentially critical blow to their 2026 FIFA World Cup chances following reports of an injury setback to Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Mohammed Kudus.

The Right to Dream Academy graduate joined Spurs from West Ham United in a six-year deal worth £55m last year.

The 25-year-old, however, been sidelined since January after being pulled off with a thigh injury in the 1-1 draw against Sunderland on January 4.

Kudus was billed to return to full time action in April, but news emerging from London indicates that the nimble footed forward has suffered another setback related to his hamstring.

Multiple reports say that Kudus may now require surgery to correct the injury, which could potentially rule him out for the rest of the Premier League season and potentially the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the summer.

Difficult World Cup fixtures lie ahead for Ghana

The Black Stars, who qualified for their fifth World Cup, will kick off their Group L campaign against Panama on June 18 before playing European sides England and Croatia.

Kudus, whose European journey started at Danish club Nordsjaelland, has scored three goals and registered five assists in nineteen appearances this season.

Spurs currently sit 17th in the Premier League and just one point above West Ham, who are in the relegation zone.
