Bulls coach Johan Ackermann has put his trust in his most experienced players for their United Rugby Championship (URC) semifinal against Glasgow Warriors at Murrayfield Stadium at 3.30pm on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Junior Blitzbok star Cheswill Jooste, who many expected to play after returning from injury, misses out.

Captain Marcell Coetzee will earn his 100th Bulls cap, and hooker Johan Grobbelaar is set to run out for his 150th match in blue.

These landmarks add emotional weight to a side already built on cohesion and experience, particularly in the tight five where Gerhard Steenekamp, Grobbelaar and Francois Klopper anchor a physically imposing front row.

The loose trio of Coetzee, Elrigh Louw and Cameron Hanekom provides a blend of breakdown authority, ball-carrying dynamism and defensive work rate.

The Bulls and Stormers will hope to successfully fly the South African flag when the URC semi-final kick off on Saturday, but it isn’t going to be easy for the two local franchises though as they have to take the fight to their opponents on foreign soil on Saturday for a spot in the Grand Final.

The Bulls will be first into the fray, taking on the Glasgow Warriors in Edinburgh at 15:30, before the Stormers go head-to-head with defending champions Leinster in Dublin at 18:30.

The stakes could not be higher, with the final now in sight on Saturday, 20 June.

Both matches pit South Africa’s best against the top two sides from the pool stages, with Glasgow Warriors having earned the right to host after topping the standings and Leinster finishing in second place.

Earlier in the week it was announced that Bulls scrumhalf Embrose Papier was crowned as the SA Vodacom URC Player of the Season, while eight players from the SA franchises were included in the Elite XV for 2026.

The URC also announced that SuperSport will continue to be the exclusive home broadcaster of the league in Sub-Saharan Africa following a multi-year rights renewal agreed with the CANAL+ Group, while Chris Smith, Quan Horn and Evan Roos also walked away with URC Awards for the 2025/26 season.
