Salah Decision Could Come Soon, Agent Rejects Publicity Claims

Mohamed Salah has not decided his next club, but his agent Ramy Abbas says the Egypt captain could make a decision soon.

“We still do not know where Mohamed will play next season, but we may know very soon,” Abbas wrote on Friday.

Abbas also rejected claims that the forward’s team holds talks with unsuitable clubs to create speculation. amunra-online.pl

“It is not our style to have discussions with clubs that Mohamed wouldn’t want to play for, just for the sake of noise,” he added.

Abbas did not name any clubs or reveal which offers Salah is considering.

However, these comments offer the clearest update from Salah’s camp after weeks of reports linking the 34-year-old with clubs in Europe, Saudi Arabia, MLS, and Turkey.

Rumors about a move to Turkey grew after Abbas traveled to Istanbul. Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk also dismissed the idea of signing Salah. He said the club has not discussed the player and added that he expects him to choose another destination, rather than Turkey.

Salah made his final Liverpool appearance in a 1-1 draw against Brentford at Anfield on May 24.

He scored 257 goals in 442 matches for Liverpool, helping the team win eight major trophies, including two Premier League titles and the Champions League.

The forward delayed his decision until after Egypt’s World Cup campaign. Egypt reached the round of 16 but lost 3-2 to Argentina on July 7 after leading by two goals.

Neither Salah nor Abbas has set a date for an announcement. Still, the agent’s comments suggest a decision could come soon.

Besiktas have reportedly made an offer to Mohamed Salah, as the Egyptian captain reduced his initial €15 million annual salary demand.

According to reports, Salah’s representatives arrived in Istanbul to continue talks with the Super Lig club.

Besiktas is said to have made its first formal approach to Salah’s camp. According to Turkish journalist Efecan Öztaş, the meeting between the two sides “went positively,” adding that the 34-year-old is “inclined to wearing a jersey in Turkey.”

Earlier reports placed Salah’s initial annual salary demand at €15 million. His wage request represented the main obstacle to a deal. Both sides continued talks to reduce the total cost.

The latest claims contradict comments from Besiktas president Serdal Adalı three days earlier. On July 14, Adalı dismissed the reports linking Salah with the club.

Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas, provided an earlier update on Friday. He did not identify any potential destination.

New York: A jersey worn by soccer giant Pele in the first World Cup final ever won by Brazil sold for $4.9 million at a US auction on Thursday.

The Brazilian attacker nicknamed "The King" was 17 when he scored two goals in his country's 5-2 victory over host country Sweden in 1958.

The blue shirt became the second most expensive jersey sold at auction after an anonymous buyer beat out four other bidders at Sotheby's in New York.

The record of $9.3 million is for a jersey worn by Argentinian star Maradona during a legendary quarter-final clash with England in the 1986 Mexico World Cup.

Argentina won the match 2-1 thanks to two Maradona goals, including his infamous "Hand of God" finish in which he illegally punched the ball into the net.
