The emotional farewell unfolded at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, the very venue where Neymar introduced himself to the international stage as an 18-year-old in 2010.

Sixteen years later, the legendary forward scored one final goal for Brazil from the penalty spot in the 100th minute, but it was only a consolation as Brazil suffered their earliest World Cup exit since 1990.

Despite scoring in his last minutes in Brazil colours, it was a heartbreaking end to one of the most celebrated international careers in football history.

Long before becoming a global superstar, Neymar's extraordinary talent was evident from childhood. Discovered at the age of six while playing beach soccer, his first coach, Betinho, was immediately struck by his exceptional balance, agility and coordination. Unlike many academy graduates, Neymar refined his dazzling dribbling, creativity and trademark joga bonito style through countless hours of futsal and street football in Sao Paulo.

His potential quickly attracted attention. Santos handed him a contract at just 11 years old, while his family famously rejected approaches from Real Madrid when he was only 14, choosing instead to allow him to continue his development in Brazil.

Neymar made his professional debut for Santos in March 2009 at the age of 17 and scored his first goal just days later with a spectacular diving header. Over the next four years, he became one of South America's brightest stars, scoring 136 goals and leading Santos to their first Copa Libertadores title in nearly five decades in 2011.

His move to Barcelona in 2013 elevated him to global superstardom. Alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez, Neymar formed the iconic "MSN" attacking trio that guided the Catalan club to a historic treble in 2015.

He later joined Paris Saint-Germain in a world-record €222 million transfer, a fee that remains the highest ever paid in football, before injuries interrupted much of his time in France. After a brief spell with Al Hilal, Neymar completed an emotional return to Santos in 2025.

His international career began in unforgettable fashion on August 10, 2010, when he scored with a header on his Brazil debut against the United States at MetLife Stadium. It proved to be the beginning of an extraordinary chapter that saw him surpass Pele's long-standing scoring record, finishing with 80 goals in 130 appearances for the Selecao.

Throughout his career, Neymar delivered some of football's defining moments, from winning the FIFA Puskás Award in 2011 to captaining Brazil to their first Olympic football gold medal in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. He also played a central role in Barcelona's famous Champions League triumph and their historic comeback against Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.

Persistent injuries, however, increasingly disrupted the latter stages of his career. An ACL injury in 2023 sidelined him for an extended period, while a recurring calf problem limited his involvement at this year's World Cup. Carefully managed by Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti, Neymar appeared only twice during the tournament before making his final appearance against Norway.

After the match, an emotional Neymar confirmed the end of his international career.

"I tried, I tried. Now it's over. I started here, I finished here," he said.

Neymar leaves behind an extraordinary legacy that extends far beyond goals and trophies. With 491 career goals, 262 assists and 28 major titles, he established himself as one of the defining players of his generation. For Brazil, however, his greatest achievement may simply be the joy, creativity and flair he brought every time he wore the famous yellow shirt.

ويخوض المنتخب الأرجنتيني النهائي باحثا عن الاحتفاظ باللقب الذي أحرزه في نسخة 2022.ويتساوى المنتخبان في سجل المواجهات المباشرة، بعدما حقق كل منهما ستة انتصارات مقابل تعادلين، غير أن الأرجنتين حسمت المواجهة الوحيدة التي جمعتهما في نهائيات كأس العالم، عندما فازت على إسبانيا بنتيجة (2-1) في نسخة عام 1966.
وفي المقابل، انتهت آخر مواجهة بين المنتخبين بفوز عريض لإسبانيا بنتيجة (6-1) في مباراة ودية أقيمت عام 2018، وهو ثالث انتصار للإسبان في آخر أربع مواجهات بين الطرفين خلال القرن الحادي والعشرين، مقابل فوز وحيد للأرجنتين.
لم تستقبل إسبانيا سوى هدف واحد ولم تتأخر في النتيجة مطلقا خلال هذه البطولة، فاصبحت أول منتخب يحافظ على نظافة شباكه في ست مباريات ضمن نسخة واحدة من كأس العالم.
وطبعت الصلابة الدفاعية والنجاعة الهجومية مسيرة المنتخب حتى النهائي، وهو ما تجلى بوضوح في الفوز على فرنسا، بطلة 2018 ووصيفة 2022، بثنائية نظيفة في نصف النهائي الثلاثاء في دالاس.
وكان التعادل السلبي المفاجئ أمام الرأس الأخضر في المباراة الافتتاحية قد أثار الشكوك بشأن قدرات إسبانيا في هذه البطولة، لكن ستة انتصارات متتالية بددت كل علامات الاستفهام.
وبعد إقصاء الرباعي الأوروبي للنمسا والبرتغال وبلجيكا وفرنسا في الأدوار الأربعة الإقصائية الأخيرة، أصبحت إسبانيا على بُعد خطوة واحدة من كتابة التاريخ.

من توم كروز إلى مادونا مرورا بجاستن بيبر وشاكيرا وفرقة بي تي أس، سيتحوّل ملعب ميتلايف قرب نيويورك اليوم إلى «أكبر مسرح في العالم» خلال المباراة النهائية.
سيشاهد 80 ألف متفرج في الملعب ومليارات المشاهدين حول العالم موكبا من النجوم خلال حفل الختام، ثم خلال العرض الموسيقي بين شوطي النهائي الذي سيحضره الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب.
وفي الفصل الأول من الاحتفالات، يُنتظر ظهور توم كروز.وسيكون كل من روبي وليامس ولورا باوزيني ونيكول شيرزينغر، مؤدّي نشيد البطولة الرسمي «ديزاير»، حاضرين أيضا، إضافة إلى مغني الراب بوست مالون.
غير أن الفصل الثاني، وهو حفل موسيقي يستمر 11 دقيقة. فقد وعد جاني إنفانتينو بأنه سيكون «أعظم مسرح في التاريخ».
وستشارك النجمة الأميركية مادونا، المسرح مع الكندي جاستن بيبر، وفرقة كيه-بوب الكورية الجنوبية بي تي أس، وشاكيرا التي تتمتع بخبرة واسعة في بطولات كأس العالم.



أتلتيكو مدريد متوج باللقب مسبقا

ينفرد أتلتيكو مدريد الإسباني، بقيادة المدرب الأرجنتيني دييغو سيميوني، بكونه النادي صاحب أكبر عدد من اللاعبين في نهائي كأس العالم 2026.
ويشارك في هذه المباراة ستة لاعبين أرجنتينيين كانوا ضمن صفوف «روخيبلانكوس» موسم 2025-2026، وهم خوليان ألفاريس، تياغو ألمادا، ناهويل مولينا، خوان موسو، جوليانو سيميوني (ابن مدرب الفريق)، ونيكو غونساليس المعار من يوفنتوس الايطالي.
ويمثّل فريق العاصمة الإسبانية أيضا ثلاثة لاعبين إسبان هم: أليكس بايينا، كارلوس يورينتي، ومارك بوبيل، بالإضافة إلى الوافد الجديد أليخاندرو غريمالدو الذي تعاقد معه «أتليتي» في 30 يونيو في خضم الونديال.
وسيتواجد بالتالي تسعة لاعبين تربطهم عقود بنادي الضاحية المدريدية، في نهائي اليوم، مع إضافة غريمالدو الذي لم يخض بعد أي مباراة مع أتلتيكو، ومن دون نيكو غونساليس الذي انتهت إعارته.

Zamalek have reportedly opened talks with Bulgarian coach Ivaylo Petev as the search for a manager for next season continues.

Ivaylo Petev has emerged among the leading candidates after the club confirmed to have contacted him in recent days. The Bulgarian becomes the latest name linked with the position after former Maghreb de Fes coach Pablo Franco.

Franco initially led Zamalek’s shortlist following his Moroccan league triumph. However, Franco’s agent said Zamalek had only approached his camp through intermediaries.

Petev began his senior coaching career with Lyubimets before joining Ludogorets in 2010. He led the club into Bulgaria’s top division and immediately established them as the country’s dominant side.

During his first spell, Petev won two consecutive Bulgarian league titles. He also claimed the 2012 Bulgarian Cup and Super Cup.

Petev later managed AEL Limassol and finished second in the 2013/14 Cypriot league on goal difference. He then coached Bulgaria from December 2014 until September 2016.

The Bulgarian subsequently joined Dinamo Zagreb and led them to second place in both the Croatian league and cup. Further spells followed with Omonia, Saudi club Al-Qadsiah, and Poland’s Jagiellonia Białystok.

Petev then took charge of Bosnia and Herzegovina in January 2021. He led the national team to promotion into UEFA Nations League A before leaving in December 2022.

He returned to Ludogorets in March 2023 and won another domestic double. That success made him the first coach to complete two doubles with the club.

Petev has won three Bulgarian league titles, two domestic cups and one Super Cup across his two Ludogorets spells.

He later managed Universitatea Craiova before joining Baniyas in May 2025. The Emirati club dismissed him four months later after losing its opening four league matches.

The White Knights have considered several coaches during their search. Their previous candidates included Pedro Emanuel, Alexandre Santos, Uli Forte, and Jamal Sellami.

Zamalek has not yet announced Motamed Gamal’s departure. He led them to their 15th Egyptian Premier League title in May and their first since 2022.
