كأس العالم 2026.. منتخب قطر يسعى لترك بصمة تتجاوز حدود المشاركة الأولى

يدخل المنتخب القطري منافسات كأس العالم 2026 لكرة القدم، التي تستضيفها الولايات المتحدة والمكسيك وكندا خلال الفترة ما بين 11 يونيو الجاري و19 يوليو المقبل، بطموح ترك بصمة تتجاوز حدود المشاركة التاريخية الأولى في النسخة الماضية عام 2022.

وستكون مشاركة الأدعم في النسخة الجديدة من المونديال هي الأولى تاريخيا عبر التصفيات، بعدما ظهر في النسخة الماضية على أرضه وبين جماهيره بصفته البلد المستضيف، وسط آمال بتحقيق نتائج أفضل من تلك التي سجلها في مشاركته الأولى.

وأوقعت قرعة كأس العالم المنتخب القطري ضمن المجموعة الثانية إلى جانب منتخبات سويسرا وكندا والبوسنة والهرسك، حيث يستهل مشواره بمواجهة سويسرا يوم 13 يونيو في مدينة سان فرانسيسكو الأمريكية، ثم ينتقل إلى مدينة فانكوفر لملاقاة نظيره الكندي يوم 18 من الشهر نفسه، على أن يختتم مباريات الدور الأول بمواجهة منتخب البوسنة والهرسك في سياتل الأمريكية يوم 24 منه.

ولم تواز المشاركة القطرية في مونديال الدوحة حجم النجاح المبهر الذي تحقق على المستويات التنظيمية والفنية والجماهيرية، إذ خرج المنتخب مبكرا من الدور الأول بعدما خسر مبارياته الثلاث أمام الإكوادور بهدفين دون رد، والسنغال بثلاثة أهداف مقابل هدف، وهولندا بهدفين دون رد، ليستقبل سبعة أهداف ويكتفي بتسجيل هدف وحيد حمل توقيع المهاجم محمد مونتاري، المتواجد ضمن القائمة التي ستخوض المونديال الثاني تواليا.

وعانى المنتخب القطري في التصفيات المونديالية رغم دخوله المنافسات بعد هيمنة قارية واضحة توجها بإحراز لقبي النسختين الأخيرتين من كأس آسيا عامي 2019 في الإمارات و2023 في قطر، فبعد أن ضمن التأهل إلى المرحلة الثالثة الحاسمة بسهولة متصدرا مجموعته في الدور الثاني برصيد 16 نقطة من خمسة انتصارات وتعادل واحد، لم تكن مهمته في الدور التالي سهلة، واكتفى باحتلال المركز الثالث في المجموعة الأولى خلف إيران وأوزبكستان اللتين حجزتا بطاقتي التأهل المباشر إلى كأس العالم.

واضطر المنتخب القطري إلى خوض المرحلة الرابعة من التصفيات الآسيوية الملحق، حيث حل في المجموعة الأولى التي استضافها على أرضه، فتعادل سلبيا مع المنتخب العماني، قبل أن يفوز على نظيره الإماراتي بهدفين مقابل هدف في المواجهة الأخيرة، ليحجز مقعده في المونديال.

وكان الاتحاد القطري لكرة القدم قد أجرى عدة تغييرات على الجهاز الفني للمنتخب قبل أن يختار الإسباني جولين لوبيتيغي لتولي المهمة قبل المباراتين الأخيرتين من المرحلة الثالثة، ليقود الأدعم إلى التأهل للمونديال عبر الملحق.

ورغم احتفاظ المدرب بالعديد من العناصر المؤثرة التي خاضت مونديال قطر 2022، فإنه سعى إلى ضخ دماء جديدة بعدما وجه الدعوة إلى 12 لاعبا سيشاركون في كأس العالم للمرة الأولى، ضمن قائمة نهائية تضم 26 لاعبا، هم: مشعل برشم، محمود أبو ندى، وصلاح زكريا لحراسة المرمى، إضافة إلى أحمد الجانحي، المعز علي، أكرم عفيف، أدميلسون جونيور، أحمد فتحي، أحمد علاء، تحسين محمد، بيدرو ميغيل، بوعلام خوخي، أيوب العلوي، الهاشمي الحسين، عاصم مادبو، سلطان البريك، حسن الهيدوس، جاسم جابر، محمد مناعي، لوكاس مينديز، كريم بوضياف، عيسى لاي، عبد العزيز حاتم، يوسف عبد الرزاق، همام الأمين، ومحمد مونتاري.

وبدأ المنتخب القطري برنامجا تحضيريا خاصا لكأس العالم منذ منتصف شهر مايو الماضي، عقب ختام منافسات الموسم المحلي والاستحقاقات القارية للأندية، من خلال معسكر محلي، قبل أن يخوض معسكرا ثانيا في مدينة دبلن التقى خلاله بمنتخب إيرلندا يوم 28 من الشهر الماضي في مباراة ودية خسرها بهدف دون رد، ثم دخل معسكرا ثالثا وأخيرا في مدينة لوس أنجلوس الأمريكية، سيتخلله اختبار ثان أمام منتخب السلفادور يوم السادس من الشهر الجاري، بغية الوصول لكامل الجاهزية قبل انطلاق المونديال.

Doha, Qatar: Hassan Al Haydos has experienced almost everything in Qatari football. He has lifted two AFC Asian Cup trophies as captain, become the country’s most capped player, played at a home FIFA World Cup and built a national team career spanning nearly two decades.

Yet as Qatar prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the veteran forward still speaks with the same hunger that marked the beginning of his journey.

“We believe in our chances in this tournament,” Al Haydos said ahead of Qatar’s second consecutive World Cup appearance.

For a player who made his senior national team debut against Bahrain in a World Cup qualifier in 2008 and has since amassed 184 international appearances, the belief comes from experience.

In North America, Qatar are carrying different expectations from those of four years ago. Having made their World Cup debut as hosts in 2022, Al Annabi qualified this time through the competitive route and are targeting a place in the Round of 32.

The inaugural 48-team tournament features 12 groups, with the top two teams and the eight best third-placed sides advancing to the knockout stage.

Tough group test

Drawn alongside Switzerland, Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina in Group B, Qatar know the challenge ahead.

“From my perspective, this group isn’t easy. It’s a tough group,” Al Haydos said.

“Switzerland are one of the strongest teams in Europe or the world. Canada will be playing at home in front of their fans, and they’re a good, strong team with outstanding players.

“So, I expect the group to be difficult. Our main focus right now is on the first match, how to be ready for it and how to perform well and get a positive result.”

Retirement and return

The words carry added weight coming from a player who briefly believed his international career had reached its conclusion.

After leading Qatar to 2019 and 2023 Asian Cup titles, Al Haydos announced his retirement from international football in March 2024. It appeared to be the end of an era for one of the country’s most influential players. But the story was not over.

When Julen Lopetegui took charge and Qatar’s World Cup qualification campaign entered a crucial phase, the Spanish coach turned to the experienced forward. Al Haydos answered the call and reversed his retirement.

“The decision to stop playing wasn’t easy for me, and neither was the decision to return,” he said.

“But at that time, I felt that the team needed me to be present in the locker room.”

Al Haydos’ value is not limited to his leadership. The veteran forward has delivered some of Qatar’s most memorable goals over the years, including several spectacular strikes from distance.

With younger players pushing through the ranks, Al Haydos has become one of the key voices inside the squad, helping pass on lessons gathered from years of international football.

“As a player, I expect the difference will be that I will have more experience or prior knowledge,” he said.

The 35-year-old believes success at the highest level is built long before kick-off.

“Sport has many qualities that not just Hassan must follow. I think the whole team must follow them in the coming period,” he said.

“The thing that the young player or the team in general must understand is that you always have a hunger for results, for titles.

“All of these things aren’t just words. You can reflect them in your daily behaviour, how you train, how you eat, how you sleep.”

Since making his debut for Qatar’s Olympic team in 2007, Al Haydos has been part of some of the most successful chapters in the country’s football history. Alongside fellow senior figures such as Pedro Miguel and Boualem Khoukhi, he remains an important link between generations as Qatar seek to make a greater impact on football’s biggest stage.

Fans at the heart

For all his achievements, however, Al Haydos still speaks most passionately about the supporters.

“In my opinion, football without fans isn’t as enjoyable or special,” he said.

“The fans are always there to support us as players.”

Reflecting on his journey, he described representing Qatar as the fulfilment of a childhood dream.

“When I was young, it was a dream of mine to represent the national team,” he said.

“I’m lucky to have played for the national team for so many years and learned so much from the coaches and the groups I played with.

“But behind all of this, there’s a lot of hard work, fatigue, being away from home and many other things behind the scenes.”

Munich, Germany: Flavio Cobolli ended top seed Alexander Zverev's Munich Open title defence on Saturday, April 18, 2026, as the Italian breezed past the world number three in straight sets to book his spot in the final.

Fourth seed Cobolli downed the home favourite 6-3, 6-3 in just under 70 minutes in their semi-final meeting.

The 23-year-old's blistering performance put paid to Zverev's hopes for a record fourth title on the red dirt in Munich.

Cobolli will face either American second seed Ben Shelton or Slovak qualifier Alex Molcan in Sunday's final.

"One of my best matches ever against one of my biggest friends on tour," Cobolli said.

"I'm a little bit shy when I play with a big player but today I played one of my best performances and I'm really happy."

Cobolli edged ahead of Zverev when he broke the German to love in the fourth game of the first set.

Zverev struggled to make inroads on Cobolli's serve over the course of the match, and when the world number 16 pounced on his opponent's first service game of the second set the writing was on the wall for Zverev.

Two punishing crosscourt forehands followed up by a crisp volley to finish off game seven secured Cobolli a double break and gave him the chance to serve for the match.

But Zverev hit back immediately as he secured his first break points of the encounter, converting at the second time of asking to halt his opponent.

A brilliant forehand on the run handed Cobolli match point in the next game and when Zverev framed a deep return the match was decided.

Cobolli advances to his second final of the season, where he will look to add to the title he picked up in Acapulco in February.

أعلن الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم (الفيفا) اليوم الخميس، حظر إدخال زجاجات المياه القابلة لإعادة الاستخدام إلى الملاعب خلال مباريات كأس العالم، لأسباب أمنية، وذلك عقب تعديل طارئ على “مدونة قواعد السلوك في الملاعب”.

وأوضح الاتحاد، الذي كان قد سمح سابقا بإدخال الزجاجات البلاستيكية الشفافة القابلة لإعادة الاستخدام، أن القواعد المحدثة تقضي بمنعها بشكل كامل.

وامتد القرار ليشمل حظر إدخال أدوات أخرى مثل الزجاجات والأكواب والبرطمانات والعلب، تجنبا لمخاطر الإصابة في حال إلقائها داخل المدرجات.

وقال الفيفا في بيان لرويترز “يلتزم الفيفا بحماية صحة وسلامة اللاعبين والحكام والمشجعين والمتطوعين والموظفين، وقد جاء قرار حظر الزجاجات للحد من المخاطر والإصابات المحتملة”.

وأضاف “تُحظر الزجاجات الخارجية بالفعل في عدد من هذه الملاعب لأسباب تتعلق بالسلامة، ونعمل على تعميم هذا الإجراء في جميع ملاعب البطولة”.

وفي المقابل، أثار القرار مخاوف الجماهير بشأن التعامل مع درجات الحرارة المرتفعة، التي يُتوقع أن تتراوح في بعض الملاعب بين 26 و28 درجة مئوية، إلى جانب تساؤلات حول سهولة الحصول على مياه الشرب داخل الملاعب.

وأكد الفيفا اتخاذ تدابير للتخفيف من آثار الحرارة، مشيرا إلى أنه ينسق مع لجان المدن المضيفة والسلطات المحلية لتوفير حلول تشمل محطات رش المياه، والمراوح، ونقاط الترطيب، والخيام المبردة، وغيرها من الوسائل في محيط الملاعب.

وجاء في البيان “داخل نطاق الملعب، ستظل أسعار زجاجات المياه خلال كأس العالم 2026 متوافقة مع الأسعار المعتمدة في الفعاليات الأخرى التي تستضيفها هذه الملاعب”.

وستقام كأس العالم 2026، بمشاركة 48 منتخبا، خلال الفترة من 11 يونيو حزيران إلى 19 يوليو تموز، بتنظيم مشترك بين الولايات المتحدة وكندا والمكسيك، مع إقامة 104 مباريات، بزيادة عن 64 مباراة في النسخ السابقة، بعد استحداث دور إقصائي إضافي.

Doha: Lebanon and Yemen will face off in a decisive 2027 AFC Asian Cup qualifier on Thursday at Hamad bin Khalifa Stadium, with a place in the continental finals at stake.

The match, the final fixture in Group E, will determine the last team to qualify for the AFC Asian Cup 2027, which will be hosted by Saudi Arabia from January 7 to February 5, 2027.

The two sides drew 0-0 when they met in the qualifiers in June 2025, while the return fixture scheduled for March was postponed.

Both teams enter the encounter knowing that victory would secure qualification and a place alongside South Korea, United Arab Emirates and Vietnam in the tournament group stage.

The match is also another example of Qatar's role as a host of major international sporting events, underlining its position as a leading destination for regional and global football competitions.
