MSU football locks in official visit from North Carolina WR prospect

Michigan State football has locked in an official visit from a highly-coveted wide receiver prospect from North Carolina.

Namajay Thompson of Shelby, N.C. announced earlier this week that he'll be taking an official visit to Michigan State in June. According to a social media post from Thompson, he'll be visiting Michigan State on June 19.

Thompson is listed at 5-foot-11.5 and 180 pounds, and plays for Crest High. He is currently unranked and unrated by 247Sports, but he's received plenty of interest on the recruiting trail.

Michigan State is one of nearly 20 schools to offer Thompson, with the Spartans extending him an offer just last week, according to 247Sports. He also holds notable offers from Duke, Wake Forest, Alabama, Boston College, Virginia Tech, James Madison, East Carolina, Charlotte and Appalachian State.

At this time, Thompson has two other official visits lined up: Wake Forest on May 29 and Duke on June 5. We will see if he continues to pick up some more recruiting steam and who else comes into the mix before the summer hits. But for now, it appears Michigan State is firmly in the race for his commitment.
