Unless he gets a really rich contract elsewhere, resigning Trautman is a slam-dunk move for the Broncos. He knows this offense very well. He has great upside as a blocking tight end. He has shown the ability to be a consistent pass catcher as well.
Why the Broncos shouldn’t sign
The biggest reason not to offer him a contract is that he lacks upside as a playmaker after the catch. If the Broncos want a tight end that can create more in the passing game, Trautman isn’t likely the answer to that question.
Final thoughts
Signing Adam Trautman back isn’t a flashy move for this offense, but it is a smart move in my eyes. He is a solid player who can help this offense get on track in the running game. The tight end room needs a guy like this on the roster.
