Random Ramsdom: Would they keep McCreary?

It wasn’t the splashiest move made last year, but the Los Angeles Rams did make a swing for cornerback help when they traded the Tennessee Titans for Roger McCreary. According to the article below, he had a decent year, but I don’t really recall him having much impact in L.A.‘s 2025 season, but McCreary may be able to use his season with the Rams to leverage a nice free agency deal.

Could the Rams want to bring McCreary back? It would somewhat fit their mold of finding cornerback help initially drafted by another team.

Whereas we don’t know exactly how the Rams will do it, it almost seems like a certainty that they will retool their cornerbacks for the 2026 season. All options appear on the table, but I think many expect the Rams to add a cornerback or two via free agency and then draft a cornerback or two as well.

We will see, but their cornerback room may be the group with the most new faces heading into the 2026 season. It’s a situation to keep monitoring.

Happy Monday, thank you for checking out Turf Show Times and have a great day!

Rams At Risk Of Losing Top Free Agent Gem (si.com)

“Roger McCreary split his season between the Titans and the Rams, and the former second-round pick was PFF’s No. 25 cornerback. He has always been a willing tackler. While the coverage metrics have been up and down, he’s just 26 years old and he has allowed just four passing touchdowns as the primary defender over the past three seasons combined.”

Rams head coach Sean McVay praised McCreary when the trade was executed. The initial move was made for McCreary to be used as a depth piece but injuries quickly piled up, pressing McCreary into service as both a slot corner and on the outside, a position he hasn’t played since his rookie season.“

Los Angeles Rams Predicted to Form Lethal WR Trio in 2026 NFL Draft (newsweek)

“As NFL franchises begin narrowing their target lists ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft, renowned analyst Charles Davis projected the Los Angeles Rams to make a selection that would immediately reshape one of the league’s most dangerous receiving rooms.

The Rams are coming off a 2025 season in which Puka Nacua cemented himself as arguably the NFL’s premier chain-mover, hauling in 129 catches for 1,715 yards and 10 touchdowns to finish among the league leaders.“

6 positions the Rams should watch the closest at the NFL combine (theramswire)

“The 2026 NFL Scouting Combine takes place this week in Indianapolis, bringing most of the draft’s top prospects together for days of testing and workouts at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Los Angeles Rams won’t have their top evaluators in attendance, with Les Snead and Sean McVay once again staying back home to study from afar, but they will still be paying close attention to film of player workouts and their all-important measurements.

The Rams are set up well heading into free agency and the draft, boasting a championship-caliber roster already, but the draft offers them a chance to build and develop it further for the long haul.“

Random Ramsdom Fandom:

“Ramily I’m telling you all right now the more tape i watch of D’Angelo Ponds? The more of a fan I’m becoming yes…he’s only 5’9″ 180 lbs but this guy has the heart of a Lion! According to Signetti his Coach he followed from James Madison to Indiana boldly said they don’t win the Chip without DP. This kid was Back 2 Back Defensive MVP in the Rose Bowl and Peach Bowl he basically locked down future #1 overall pick Jeramiah Smith from Ohio St. held him for ONE catch for 9 yards he also locked down Denzel Boston from Washington all 6’4″ 215 lbs of him one guy stated…

“The Hoosiers were playing Washington. The Huskies came out in a stack formation and threw a screen pass. Denzel Boston, their 6-4, 210-pound receiver, tried to block Ponds.

“That’s a huge receiver,” Adams said. “Ponds literally two-gapped him and threw him on the ground and made the tackle. I tell every scout that asks me about Ponds — that’s the play you need to go watch if you’re asking me about his size.”

He has “Deceptive Strength” and played primarily outside corner Ponds is also the guy who hit Ty Simpson on the scramble forcing a fumble and knocking him out of the gm i love this kid demeanor i would take him no questions asked.“ -AztecaRamsfan99
