Arsenal Give PSG Bad Transfer News Involving Newcastle Target

PSG could be eyeing the long-term replacement for Marquinhos in Sporting Lisbon centre-back Ousmane Diomande. Nonetheless, they face competition for the player, who is on the radar of several Premier League clubs.

On Dec. 28, A Bola reported that the Parisians have placed Diomande at the top of their priority list to reinforce their defense in the short term. Furthermore, the French and European champions’ desire to sign the Sporting Lisbon centre-back for €45 million.

The defender’s characteristics align with the profile desired by coach Luis Enrique, particularly his ability to play with both feet, his clean passing, both short and long, and his physical strength.

Portuguese outlet Record reports that Arsenal could once again look to Sporting this summer, with Diomande emerging as a target. Arsenal have already made contact with Diomande’s representatives while exploring the possibility of a move during the upcoming transfer window.

The center back recently signed a new four-year deal with Sporting, though the agreement is viewed more as a way to protect the club’s transfer value than a long-term commitment keeping him in Lisbon throughout peak years. The contract includes a release clause worth €80 million (£70 million).

Newcastle United and Crystal Palace are also credited with strong interest in the 22-year-old. Palace previously considered Diomande as a potential successor to Marc Guehi last summer and could renew that pursuit later this year.
