Can the Boston Celtics win the Eastern Conference for the 2025-26 NBA regular season? At first glance, the 5.5 game lead currently held by the first place Detroit Pistons looks like a bridge too far for the Celtics to overcome before the end of the season in middle of April. But the Pistons will be without a key player for several more games thanks to a fight that saw several of Detroit's players suspended, and Boston might soon have Tatum back.
Both teams have a similar strength of schedule for the rest of their respective campaigns with Tankathon putting the Celtics at No. 6 overall and the Pistons at No. 8, so it would take a major run from Boston at the same time a Detroit stumble of sorts would be required.
The folks behind the "NESN" YouTube channel put together a clip from their "Boston Has Entered the Chat" podcast on this very question. Check it out below!
