Alayna Millard: We can’t let our standards drop

Leeds United Women return to FA Women’s National League Division One North action on Sunday, welcoming Huddersfield Town Women to the Bannister Prentice Stadium for a top-of-the-table clash. The visiting Terriers sit third, while United sit second, both with a game in hand on league leaders Wythenshawe.

The fixture marks the Whites’ third of 2026, as they aim for seven points from the first nine available in the new year and a return to the top of the table!

Ahead of the game, defender Alayna Millard spoke exclusively to leedsunited.com.

“It is nice to be back after a few months on the sideline,” the full-back said. “It is always exciting to play against a team that is near the top of the table. It will be a challenge, but I am looking forward to it, it should be a good game.

“We have come off two really good team performances against Chorley and Cheadle Town which have set the tone and standards for the second half of the season.

“We can use that confidence to keep our momentum going into Sunday to make sure our standards do not drop.

“Huddersfield being so close to us in the table gives us motivation to give a really good performance; we have been focusing and working hard all week to make sure we are as ready as possible.

“Playing at Garforth always gives us a boost because teams have got to come to us. We try and make it hard for them to do that. It adds that extra motivation.

“Our goal every game is to win regardless of who we are playing.”
